The older and younger segments of the population will increasingly drive housing demand, according to the Joint Center for Housing Studies’ new State of the Nation’s Housing report. Between 2010 and 2015, millennials formed 7.6 million new households, adding pressure to both rental and ownership markets. On the other end of the spectrum, one out of every three households is predicted to be headed by a senior by 2035, which will spark demand for safe, accessible homes and apartments that meet the needs of aging adults.
