RALEIGH— On April 19, State Senator Michael Lazzara will help cut the ribbon at the dedication of Crestfield Point Apartments in Jacksonville. Crestfield Point will aid in addressing the shortage of affordable apartments in Onslow County, where more than 49% of renters are cost-burdened, paying more than 30% of their income on rent.

Developed by Carolina Statewide Development of Jacksonville, Crestfield Point is a new community of 72 apartment homes that are affordable for working families. Crestfield Point was financed with federal Housing Credits and a Rental Production Program loan allocated by the NC Housing Finance Agency. The development also has a loan of $4.3 million of disaster recovery funding to help replace housing lost to Hurricanes Matthew and Florence.
“Our state is facing a shortage of affordable and attainable housing and this is especially true in communities that have been impacted by natural disasters,” said Scott Farmer, NC Housing Finance Agency executive director. “Crestfield Point will address the housing shortage that hard-working North Carolinians in this area are facing.”
