The North Carolina Housing Finance Agency can help home builders reach a wider market of buyers for their new homes. Our NC Home Advantage Mortgage™ offers competitive rates and down payment assistance up to 3% of the loan that can make your homes more affordable for potential buyers. First-time buyers (those who haven't owned a home as their principal residence in the past three years) and military veterans with lower incomes may be eligible for the NC 1st Home Advantage Down Payment, which offers $15,000 in down payment help.
Or, your eligible first-time buyers and military veterans may prefer the NC Home Advantage Tax Credit*, which offers up to $2,000 a year in federal tax savings for buyers who apply and are approved by us for a Mortgage Credit Certificate prior to their home purchase. Buyers of new construction can take up to 50% of their annual interest paid (capping at $2,000) as a tax credit.
*The Agency will be terminating the NC Home Advantage Tax Credit (Mortgage Credit Certificate) program by approximately March 2025 (the actual date will depend on when currently available funds are exhausted. Please be aware that your Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) reservation is not guaranteed until an actual MCC lock is confirmed in our reservation system.
